The location of this place is beautiful. The pictures does not do it justice. It might be a common view in Norway, but as a Dane, I thought it was something special to wake up and have the view of the lake and the village underneath. At the time of booking there was an emphasis on the rustic living room, which granted gave a special atmosphere. But I wanted to let other travelers know, that the farm is not an old dump. Parts of the house do bear witness to the fact that it is a vacation home and that it is old. But for staying and living, I didn’t find myself removed from more modern choices. The kitchen and the bathroom are both in fine shape. And it didn’t bother us, that there was no tv or internet. It was great weather when we were there and as it turns out, there is a small path leading from the house to a stream on the border of the property. And between two falls, there was a pool of still water. it was a unique experience to swim there and then run into the sauna to get warmed up. And if you are not up for swimming, the fall of the water can be heard from the house. And there is something about having a great view of a mountain lake, and the sound of your own “private” waterfall in the back yard. A great selection, if you are looking for a piece of Norway that is not too far North, but close to sites (Rjukan area) and nature (Gaustatoppen). I recommend this place highly.
